Whether toward the discovery of novel technologies or more efficient processes, research and development is an essential function of the science department. This is demonstrated daily by the dedicated lab and staff of scientists for product and process research and development. Osprey holds over 16 patents, with additional applications pending, on products and processes highlighted by our unique stabilization method for our proprietary Pseudomonas cultures in a liquid format at room temperature.

One essential function of process development is to scale-up the fermentation procedure for new strains, whether they are isolated by Osprey's scientists or acquired as a customer's proprietary strain for commercial feasibility. Osprey's research and development lab has a diverse selection of fermentation vessels to provide adequate strain scale-up procedures and works closely with clients to determine the best growth and stability parameters for each new strain.
